2025 Recap

What a year at Voyager Music Lessons! We kicked off 2025 by signing up our 100th student and haven't stopped growing since. In May, our first open-mic night was so successful that we've made it a recurring event. Over 80 students took the stage at our June Spring recital at the Marjorie S. Dean Little Theater. In September, we started offering free access to a practice app—and practice has been at an all-time high! We also began honoring a Student of the Month, celebrating our rock-star students, and inspiring others to reach for their own musical goals. We're closing the year with 23 incredible instructors on our roster. Here's to 2026 and continuing to bring the joy of music into our students' lives and homes!

December Student of the Month: Get To Know Gabriel!

This month, we would like to honor long-time Voyager piano student Gabriel! Check out the above video of Gabriel's beautiful playing and his interview below:

How old are you?
"I'm thirteen years old!"

How long have you been taking lessons?
"Roughly 7 years."

What do you love most about your teacher?
"My teacher Jordan can always find the source of my errors, and he can nearly instantly develop an optimal, innovative strategy. I owe nearly all of my piano skills to his incredible teaching."

What is your favorite song or piece you've learned so far?
"The piece I have most enjoyed playing is Beethoven's Fur Elise. It's melodic blend of minor, with long, flowing notes, as well as the contrasting F major and C major keys, provides for a delicate, yet catchy play."

Who are your favorite musicians or bands?
"I like listening to Avicii's EDM and occasional rap, but in the jazzy, classical field, Johann Fredrick Burgmuller. I occasionally enjoy playing his pieces, such as Arabesque from the late 19th century."

What do you love most about playing music?
"I enjoy the feeling of stability and concentration I receive from playing music."

What do you do if a piece is particularly challenging or you find yourself getting frustrated?
"When a piece is frustrating, I use one of the strategies I've learned from my teacher. This involves hand separation, the tying of chords together, and the slow escalation of tempo and speed."

Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
"As a tip, if you're stuck, you can always write in the fingering numbers (#1-5), or even the notes, to build muscle memory. Remember, you can always erase them later!"
